Some Tips on How to Wash Your Leotard
Imagine that you have been looking for a perfect gymnastic leotard for several weeks and finally you have got it. You are happy now and will be happy during a week or so until the time comes to wash it. You cannot afford making any mistakes here since, perhaps, you paid around $100 for it. Any wrong move can destroy your leotard. You got used to the fact that it is easy to wash sportswear. Unfortunately, girls gymnastic leotards require special care and you cannot just throw them to a washing machine with other clothes. Thus, you need to know how to take care of your leotard and make it look exactly the same way it look at the moment you bought it.
The first thing you have to pay attention to is a “proper care tag” attached to every quality leotard. There you will get all information on how to wash and take care of it. As a rule such tags suggest temperature regime for washing as well as warnings against ironing and drying.
Why would you need to wash your leotard? There are two thing that will make you do so – chalk and sweat. But it may happen that your leo has some stains. Did you maybe spilled juice or put your leotard in a bag together with dirty boots? In such a case make sure you pre-wash stains using anti-stain liquid.
Then comes a washing process. The best option is to hand wash your gymnastic leotard. The thing is that you cannot wash it together with other multi-colored things. You should also remember that only cold water is used. Besides, many leotards are multi-colored, so if you put it to the washing machine alone (hot water) color may simply blend and you will spoil your leotard forever. It is recommended to wash leotards having turned them inside-out. Do not use strong detergents!
Make sure you rinse your leotard with clean water after washing (no soapy water!). In order to dry it, find a place without direct sunlight. And do not use iron otherwise you may wave your brand new leotard good bye
